Book Discussion Group

On Saturday, February 26th, The Clinical Practice of Educational Therapy:  A Teaching Model, will be the focus of discussion.  The study group leader, Dr. Laurie Fox, has requested that participants speak about a chapter that is most compelling or relevant to their own experience. 

Considering Ourselves in Relation to Others

 We are all products of a multitude of variables in our lives such as unique developmental histories, styles, preferences, environmental factors, and the socio-cultural contexts into which we are born, and then transition in and out of in order to adapt to the challenges that confront us.

On Networking & Relationships

Greater Boston's Study Group (GBAET) met on January 22nd, 2011 at Curry College for a networking session.  New members to our group bring expertise and training in child development, neuroscience, educational consulting and advocacy.  Networking not only brings educational therapists together with allied professionals in order to learn from one another, it also brings the added bonus of sharing this new information with clients in order to improve the quality of their lives in school, the workplace, and in the broader spectrum of life.

The Marginally and Profoundly Distressed Adult with Learning Disabilities: Group Support

Some educators as well as many people in the general public believe that children with learning disabilities (LDs) will “grow out of” what might be perceived as an affliction of sorts . . . a disabling or handicapping condition.  I guess this would assume that a disability of this nature can be cured, or at least diminished in its capacity to handicap a person over time.

Hello to parents, colleagues and individuals who are curious about educational therapy! I am happy to be here, offering you a chance to get acquainted with my profession. Some of you might have watched the new TV show, Parenthood, brought to viewers by the amazing talents, Ron Howard and Jason Katims.
